Collaboration between Sevenflow (www.sevenflow.com) and Kultdesign (www.shinters.homepage.nu).
Because this collaboration was a big deal, we decided that we wanted to do something extra special with this piece. However, it is understandable that some people may not want such a serious wallpaper and can also check out our other, more ‘fun’ collaboration (more fun than Tekken!). Anyway… there is quite a bit to say about this piece so let’s get into it right away.
This piece is based on a FICTIONAL interpretation (or nightmare) of the world will be like in the future. Machines will gain knowledge on their own and attempt to copy all characteristics of the humans on our planet. At one point, who will be able to tell the difference? The machines soon become superior to humans and eventually humans die off. This is the second rebirth. This image is what we think that would look like… while still drawing parallels to the Earth’s actual birth. For example, the energy beams are actually the machines getting energy from the nitrogenous molecules in the atmosphere, but their appearance is supposed to be similar to that of the volcanoes that littered early earth. The repetitious structures are meant to point out that the thing that makes Earth so lively is its imperfections. The machines know this partially, as they have a slightly organic makeup, but the repetition is still obvious.
Scattered throughout this piece you will see minor explanations and diagrams of the machines. Among these, look for:
Diagram of the Machine’s cell pattern
Descriptions of the chromosome patterns in the DNA
Dominant Traits
Measurement System
Asexual and Sexual Reproduction methods
Pseudo-code for the embryo’s creation process
Classifications of the phylums
The pieces in the upper left are the unicellular asexual structures; they cannot collude and thus are the weakest members. Their cell hierarchy only moves up to tissues, as well. The machines that form the big ‘mountainous’ regions are multi-cellular and CAN collude… they make up the base of the ‘civilization’. Consider these structures the proteins, or building blocks, of the entire civilization.
If this is too much for you, once again, you can check out the fun piece.
Anyway, we hope the amount of work that went into this piece helped make a more interesting piece of art.
P.S. If for some reason, you want to know more about the structures, you can contact Sevenflow, I have an entire story prepared about the piece.
